TMT Bars with Thermo Mechanical Treatment

 Thermex System water spray system is used for quenching hot rolled bars after they have left the finished mill. The TMT Rebars' outer core rapidly cools to a depth that is ideal for each section, hardening it to a martensitic rim while keeping the core hot and austenitic.

The term "Quenching" refers to this cooling method.

When the rebars are removed from the Thermex Quenching box, the core remains hot compared to the surface, allowing heat to flow from the core to the surface, causing the outer Martensite layer to temper, resulting in the formation of a structure known as "Tempered Martensite."

After the self-tempering is finished, the bars prepare for atmospheric cooling. This is carried out at room temperature on a cooling bed. The austenitic core becomes a ferrite-pearlite structure in this step. As a result, the final structure has a ductile core and a strong outer layer. Through this process, the tensile strength is increased, making the material more ductile and weldable.
